Covid-19 Updates

GUEST EXPECTATIONS:
Metcalfe Golf Club has implemented numerous changes to our operations to make our facility safe for our employees and guests and to be fully compliant with the requirements of government and public health officials. But we cannot do this alone. Everyone is responsible for preventing the spread of COVID-19 and we need your help.


To keep our customers and staff safe, our expectations are as follows:

  • Stay at home if you are showing any Covid-19 or flu symptoms. If you are unsure please used the Government on Ontario's screening tool. 
  • Practice physical distancing by staying a minimum of 6 feet away from people not in your household.
  • Please pre-pay for your rounds online before arriving at the facility (or by using your account if you have one).
  • To control the amount of people in the common areas, if you arrive more that 20 minutes before your tee time you will be asked to wait at your car.
  • Masks are required in all outdoor common areas until golfers reach the 1st tee and after you finish your round until you are in your car.
  • Mask’s in Power Carts - The Ontario Government now requires all riders of power carts that DO NOT reside in the same household to WEAR A MASK. 
  • After you have checked in remain in the designated waiting area until asked to head to the tee.
  • Bring personal hand sanitizer with you if possible and use our hand washing stations while at the course.
  • Use proper coughing/sneezing etiquette by using your inner elbow.
  • Do not enter any buildings except bathrooms.
  • Wash your hands using our 5 sinks operated by a foot pumps around the property.
  • Only one person in bathrooms at a time.
  • Please do not touch the pin on the green. We have installed lifting devices to retraive your ball.
  • Practice continuous putting (One player finishes putting out at a time, followed by the next player).
  • Do not shake hands or high five to celebrate or greet other golfers or staff, a wave will do.
  • Do not share any equipment including scorecards, tees, clubs, balls, ball markers, etc.
  • No gathering in the parking lot. Even if you are maintaining 6 feet of physical distancing, gatherings are not permitted anywhere including in the parking lot.
  • Leave the facility right after your round or after visiting the patio.

COVID -19 CUSTOMER PROCESSES & INFORMATION 

Metcalfe Golf Customer Mask Policy: (updated April 5th, 2021)


Masks are required in all outdoor common areas until golfers are teeing off. This means that a golfer may take off their mask as they step up to the tee to hit their first shot. Mask are also required you finish your round until you are in your car. Mask's are required when using the indoor bathrooms.

Mask’s in Power Carts - The Ontario Government now requires all riders of power carts that DO NOT reside in the same household to WEAR A MASK.

Bookings

  • Tee times will have increased spacing compared with Pre-Covid golf.
  • We strongly encourage all players to book and pay online. This will be the safest, fastest, and best practice for both our staff and customers.
  • Online bookings may be made 7 days in advance. 
  • Public phone bookings may also be paid for in advance.
  • Public players who do not pre-pay will be required to provide a credit card number to gurantee the booking and pay a higher rate when they arrive at the course.
  • All bookings must be made in advance, there will be no access to the course without a tee time.
  • To ensure equal spacing and physical distancing we strongly recommend that golfer’s book as foursomes.
  • Please note when booking as a twosome or threesome, there is a good chance you will be paired up with another group or individual. Please use phyical distancing. If you wish to play by yourself, you will be required to pay for all unused slots.

Check In
  • Customers will not be permitted to check in, until 20 minutes before their tee time.
  • Upon arrival, customers should proceed to the welcome tent shack, please stay a minimum of 6 feet from our staff and other customers and respect the markings that will be on the ground.
  • If you are prepaid or have an account, you will be checked in and directed to the designated waiting area which are the practice greens for each course. Please note there are only 4 people allowed on the practice greens and you must stay six feet apart.
  • Scorecards will be available with our starter on the 1st tee.
  • Anyone who has not prepaid or does not have an account will need to proceed to the golf shop.
  • We will have a payment tap station located at the golf shop main door. The door will be locked, but you will be able to use and outdoor tap station to pay for your green fee.
  • Please respect the markings on the ground and stand 6 feet from any customers waiting in line. 

During the Round/On Course Modifications
  • Practice physical distancing by staying a minimum of 6 feet away from other people always at all times.
  • We have NO TOUCH LIFTERS for the holes so that you may putt the ball into the hole and use your putter to raise an attachment which will remove the ball from the hole. 
  • Do not touch the pin at anytime.
  • Practice continuous putting (One player finishes putting out at a time, followed by the next player).
  • All Ball washers will be removed.
  • All rakes will be removed; please rake with your foot, and improve your lie if needed.
  • Do not shake hands or high five to celebrate or greet other golfers or staff, a wave will do.

Bathrooms at The Club House
  • Only the bathrooms in the outside hallway will be open for golfers before and after their round
  • Ourbathrooms inside the clubhouse are closed.
  • Only one customer in each bathroom at a time. While waiting for the washrooms please stay a minimum of 6 feet from our staff and other customers and respect the markings on the ground.
  • Masks are required when using the indoor bathrooms.
  • In addition to regular protocols, staff will perform additional cleaning and disinfecting of bathrooms.

Bathrooms on the Course
  • We will have a portable bathrooms & foot pedal hand washing stations (once the weather warms up). The accessible after holes 3, 4,  6, 8, 12 & 15 on the 18-hole course and after 3 & 6 on the 9-hole course. Our porta potties are also equipped with hand sanitizer.



Additional F&B Services
  • On-course delivery & beverage carts are available.
  • Customers will also be able to order takeout meals from Hickories, before or after their round.
  • The process will be contact-free.
  • Orders may be made and paid for using our mobile Food and Beverage Website (linked to the www.metcalfegolf.com home page)  or by calling Hickories 613-821-4564 with your credit card number or acccount.
Electric Cart Use
  • All golf carts will be staged in the parking lot, sanitized and with keys in them.
  • Customers to load and unload their own bags.
  • After the round, please return your cart to the cart return area (follow the signs)
Metcalfe Golf Electric Cart Policy:
The Ontario Government now requires all riders of power carts that DO NOT reside in the same household to WEAR A MASK.
Metcalfe Golf recommends:
Two golfers ride in the same cart without a divider if they reside in the same household (ID is currently not required).
or    
Two golfers ride in the same cart with a divider if they are not in the same household. Mask required.


Golfers who wish to take the extra precaution (for health reasons) and wish to ride alone will have the option to pay an additional $6.00 to ride alone (to cover the increased costs).

Note: if you are the only rider in the group or in a threesome who is all riding, one golfer will be allowed to ride solo without any extra fe

Food & Beverage/Club House/Patio  - Our club house is currently closed, however our tent patio is open with Covid Protocols in place.

Here is how the process will work:
  • Guests will be asked to check themselves in by scanning a QR code with their camera app, or having our staff recorded your contact information.
  • A staff member with a mask will be located just inside the door behind a plexiglass shield and will take your order.
  • Masks must be worn until unless you are seated at your table with Food or Beverage in front of you.
  • Our patio & weekly specials will be posted on an A-frame sign board and on our website.
  • Our staff member will assign you to a numbered table.
  • All tables are well spaced with a maximum of 4 people per table and will not be permitted to be moved together
  • Socializing with other tables is not permitted.
  • The time limit on the patio is 90 minutes per group and a maximum of 3 drinks per person
  • Patio guests will have access to the indoor washrooms (The back door of the covered patio will be open to access these bathrooms. Limited to one person at a time in each bathroom and one person waiting in the hallway. Masks required).
  • Our staff will sanitize each table & chairs after guests leave
